What is Inkplainer?

Inkplainer is a desktop-browser whiteboard animation tool that turns your images and text into hand-drawn explainer videos — the kind you see in educational content, product walkthroughs, and social media campaigns. Upload your visuals, choose how they should be drawn, hit Generate, and export your animation as an MP4 or WebM video file.

The editor runs in your browser. Your images, text layers, project saves, and exports are handled locally on your device rather than uploaded to an Inkplainer server.

🎨
Multiple animation styles
From fast Chunk Jump reveals to slow artistic Contour tracing — plus subject-aware styles for people, animals, buildings, and more.
✏️
Advanced drawing control
Fine-tune stroke styles, outline detection algorithms, coloring fills, and image reveals for each layer.
📐
Layer system with slicer
Stack multiple images and text layers, set their animation order, and cut images into regions with the Grid, Rectangle, or Freehand slicer.
🎬
Export as MP4 or WebM
Record and download your animation as a video file at up to 1440p. Also export the final frame as a PNG with one click.
💾
Auto-save projects
Your work is saved automatically to your browser after every change. Multiple projects, always there when you come back.
🔒
Private by design
Your project content is stored locally in your browser. The app does not use accounts, analytics, or tracking scripts.

Inkplainer is a passion project built and maintained by one person. It started as an experiment: how much of a whiteboard animation workflow could run directly in the browser, without accounts, uploads, or subscriptions?

If Inkplainer has been useful to you — for a school project, a client presentation, a YouTube video, or just for fun — that's all the motivation this project needs to keep going.

Why is it free?

Because creative tools should be accessible to everyone — students, teachers, small businesses, and independent creators — not just people who can afford a monthly subscription.

Inkplainer is free to use. If you want to support the project and help keep it running and growing, you can buy us a coffee on Ko-fi. It's entirely optional.
